With relatively fast new interventions in the skincare world, cleansing balms have made a rather powerful entry. Surpassing all the face washes, cleansing oils, makeup removers and other cleansing products; it is not wrong to say that the invention has killed all birds with one stone.

MAC recently launched The Kelly and Sharon Osbourne collection. Kelly's eyeshadow quad was a beautiful mix of purples, and her visual for the collection was stunning - so I decided to recreate her look using products that I have in my collection. So here is my interpretation of the Kelly's look..

MY FAVOURITE ORANGE LIPSTICKS FOR THE SEASON!!!!!

In the hot new tends of spring/summer 2014, the shade orange is the new black!!! It showed up on the international runways all over the spring 2014 ready-to-wear shows, making its way from "the lip colour" to its clothes, bags, and shoes.

In Pakistan also, this fiery hue was seen being used by designers on the ramp at the latest Sunsilk Fashion Week 2014 and has also managed to seep into the wardrobes of the masses (thanks to the lawn mania).

PRIMER!! BOURJOIS FLOWER PERFECTION TRANSLUCENT SMOOTHING PRIMER

Hey ladies today's post is about a makeup product that I considered a useless step in a makeup routine. That product my friends is a makeup primer. Not a big fan of primers, I always had this misconception that primers are only for people with oily skins ( I have normal to dry) to keep their foundation matte for longer period of time. Last week, I was invited at a couple of formal dinners, the question was how to wear makeup and in the scorching heat in which even my  bare skin was melting like a burning wax candle.. Lol ( yes!! Is a bit of an exaggeration)

Anyways I had to wear makeup and lots of it (my love for makeup <3). So how would I increase the wearability of my foundation and prevent it looking like a sweaty oil dump????? Hmmm!! Primer??? YES!!! So here is the one I tried:

Ashwariya Rai Bachchan's Cannes 2014 inspired makeup

Aashwariya Rai Bachchan made a stunning entrance at The Cannes Flim Festival looking breathtaking in her Roberto Cavalli evening gown. She gracefully swept the red carpet not only with a gown that accentuated her curves but also opted for a makeup look that was all about a flawless complexion, bold red lips and voluminous curly hairdo; making her look like a total "red carpet" royalty.

This classic makeup look never goes out of fashion and is relatively easy to recreate.  I thought of giving it a try.. So here is my interpretation of her makeup look.

INECTO Hair Repair Treatment

As a continuation of my last post this pure coconut hair treatment mask for me works nothing better than a regular conditioner. After washing and towel drying, apply on the hair and leave for 2-3 mins before washing it out with warm water. It works well with Inecto conditioner but overall the results were disappointing. It's mild formulation is not suitable for very dry and damaged hair. The scent is just as good as the conditioner but the overall results were not up to the mark. 

INECTO Pure Coconut Moisture Infusing Conditioner

Got this product as well as it's repair treatment as a gift from my hubby from his trip to Thailand. I never heard if the brand but the pure coconut claim seemed tempting. It descibes on the bottle: 

"Inecto Pure Coconut Moisture Infusing Conditioner that nourishes hair and smooths frizz. Contains 100% pure coconut oil to smooth and nourish dry, damaged hair.  Paraben free."

I tried out this conditioner more than a couple of times however It came out to be a bit disappointment as it's not rich enough for my hair which are fairly dry due to colouring and styling; my hair needs extra nourishment. The scent on the other hand is amazing. The sweet coconut smell lingers in your hair hours after you have washed your hair. Its a thumbs down for me but it will work great for people who want a light weight conditioner or will be great for young teenage girls. It is available at Boots.

L'oreal Mythic Oil Review

From the house of L'oreal comes this incredible salon exclusive product. I got it from the salon when my hair started feeling dry and tangled. Just a small amount works miraculously and makes my hair feeling soft, glossy and tangled free.

Not only does it smell amazing, it feels amazing on the hair too. Enriched with avocado and grape seed oil; It has light weight consistency so it doesn't make the hair oily at all infact it absorbs completely in the hair giving a lush and glossy look to the hair. 

I use a couple of pumps ( I have long hair) in my damp hair after wash or dry second day hair working from the tips upwards leaving the scalp. Like they do it in salons, I sometimes use it as a treatment for my dry hair, massaging it in my scalp an hour before shampooing. Can't rave more about how good this product is. For me it's a 10/10. It is available at L'oreal Proffesional salons across Pakistan and retails around Rs2500 to Rs2800 and is worth every rupee. 

MAC Fix+ spray

                                

It's has been quite a while when I first heard about this product on the Internet and was obsessing to buy it. I loved the idea of a makeup fixer and by MAC, I thought it would be godsend. And then I bought it!! But it doesn't set my makeup?!?!?! Total waste of money. 

It stayed in my makeup stash for six months without use when one day i picked it up and thought of giving it a try for one last time  before emptying the bottle and filling it with water.. Hehe. That moment I realized that it's actually not a fixer. It's and over face hydrant that not only refreshed my skin but also gave it a kind of hydration which I badly need as I have extremely dry skin. Since that day I use it often even on bare skin...adds radiance  I LOVE IT!!!! 

There is alot of debate on the internet questioning whether its a good or a bad  product. For me it is a must have item for people with dry skin..

I use it for :

• Hydration after applying my foundation and powder. It takes all the cakey-ness away.
• Works great as a mixing medium for my cake eyeliner and eye shadows. 

Can't brag more about how much I love this product. It is my MAC's repurchase item. It contains camomile,  green tea, cucumber with fresh natural energising scent of Sugi  The  only doubt that i have is that if it would suit people with oily skin because the ingredients in it have the tendency of making the skin breakout. The negative for me is the price. Its expensive  if you buy it from Pakistan, I got it from Alfatah for Rs  2700 which is ridiculous when you can get it for $20 in USA.

HOT HOT HOT! Summer tips for makeup and skincare

The sun is at the strongest  and we are pretty much helpless in front of the electricity crises; Still in this heat we girls need to look our best, RIGHT?! ;) So here are some of my tips about what you need to do on an everyday basis in the summer season not only to look pretty but to feel good as well.

First things first.. Drink as much water as you possibly can; not only does it hydrate your body but it cleanses you and your skin. 6-8 glasses at least.

Adopt a skin cleansing routine.. Either do it at home every night or if  you are a lazy bone get it done from a salon every fortnight for the results to show.  ( I will be posting about cleansing technique in my coming blog posts)
